Hello friends, it’s been way too long! Things happened fast in the past year, and life turned exciting in a short amount of time. Some of it difficult, some of it magic, some of it yet to be seen.

The biggest obstacle to my writing was definitely the deadlines I place upon myself. In the time I was churning out articles, sometimes I had a lot to write about. Other times, I had to dig deep to find something of interest. And I discovered I hated that system. As a writer, I don’t want any of my articles to seem forced – it takes away from the quality of reading materials, and I want to remain as genuine as possible, just as I do in my day-to-day dealings in the business. Everyone wins in this situation. I will be writing more articles in the future, but they will appear as they come, in more of a freelance format.
That being said, I have some fun new ideas I want to apply. Tags are coming to help my readers access the content they want to see the most, whether the articles be client cases, product-related, opinion, etc. Products in Review will be an important part of the blog, as it will allow me to be even more transparent into what I put into each dog’s styling. The industry is… interesting at the moment, and I want to address some of what’s going on.
Speaking of behind the scenes, I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve been working very close with Nash Academy and Vivian Nash in the past year. Since 1973, Nash has been a key driver in the industry, teaching the dog stylists of tomorrow, starting with handling techniques and encompassing everything from breed histories to the 20 coat types to the fine art of finding the right style for the right dog. It’s a tall order that has seen its share of updates and upgrades to stay current with the changing times – my involvement will only help that even more. It’s beyond a dream come true for me! I will also be involved in growing trade shows through the IJA through online and onsite teaching! But worry not! In the past, clients have told me not to leave for New York or Los Angeles, and Lexington is no exception! I’m staying in the area, but will be traveling to teach. I can’t wait to get started!
Also big news… as many of you know, I’ve had health difficulties in the past. I’m happy to announce that I found a doctor in town who is more than willing to work with me, and I will be getting some answers (and a solution!) in the coming weeks! All I ask is that everyone works with me, just as you’ve all done in the past – something I’m forever grateful for. I’ve always said the world would be in better shape if everyone took care of each other like y’all did for me!
As of May 1, I’ve also decided to lift the mask requirement for the lobby area. The numbers are way down, I have my new little air filter to take care of the lobby, and the new variants are less deadly. If you still wish to wear a mask, please do so. If you are comfortable without one… I can’t wait to see all your smiles again – it’s been a long time!
There is even more going on behind the scenes. While my new writings will not be a monthly thing, there will be new articles that pop up from time to time… keep it tuned in, and see what’s up!
More to come…
